A judge has ruled Amy Locane-Bovenizer will not be required to serve out the remainder of her sentence for the 2010 manslaughter of 60 year old Helene Seeman. Bovenizer was convicted of vehicular manslaughter, assault by auto as well as a range of other offences which added up to a three year jail sentence. Prosecutors had argued for a 7 year sentence but her lawyers at the time successfully argued their client did not pose a threat to society. The judge at the time, Robert Reed, agreed with the defence and sentenced Bovenizer to three years. She was released in 2015 after serving two and half years. Prosecutors demanded Judge Reed provide justification for his decision to release Bovenizer to which he agreed he had made an error of judgement and she should have served the full three year term in prison. Helene Seeman’s friends and family have been vocal in their criticism of the light sentence handed down to the actress, however the courts ruled today that Bovenizer will not have to return to serve to out the final six months.

Amy Locane-Bovenizer is known for her role on Melrose Place where see played Sandy Harling as well as several films during the 90s such as Cry Baby (1990), Blue Sky (1994) and Going All the Way (1997). More recently she starred in Throttle (2005) as Molly Weaver in additional a number of small films.
